Virtual Supervision with Alexis Tarr, LCSW-S

I am an approved clinical supervisor by the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners. I provide clinical supervision to licensed master’s level social workers (LMSW) seeking clinical supervision in pursuing clinical social work licensure (LCSW).

In supervision, the primary focus will be developing clinical assessment and treatment skills. The purpose of supervision is to prepare clinicians to provide clinical social work services above the minimum standard of care. As the supervisor, I will approach the role as a mentor, guiding your development as a therapist. Over the course of supervision, sessions will be designed for training and quality improvement, building upon professional strengths and overcoming limitations. We will explore therapeutic techniques and treatment options, human behavior in the social environment, ethical dilemmas and conflict demands, documentation styles, referral tasks and strategies, and much more. In encompassing all areas of clinical practice, licensing exam readiness will be a natural outcome of the supervision process.

I am provide these services to any social worker within the state of Texas, regardless of geographical location. All supervision services are provided across a HIPAA compliant videoconferencing platform, in accordance with Texas Administrative Code.
I host a biweekly supervision session in a group setting, spanning 2 hours. In addition, I am able to offer 1-hour individual supervision sessions, as needed.

I am a licensed clinical social worker certified to practice in the state of Texas. I currently work in leadership position at a local mental health organization serving the Houston community. As a clinical supervisor, I enjoy supporting and educating social workers as they grow in their career.

I obtained my Bachelor of Social Work degree from Lamar University and Master of Social
Work degree from University of Texas at Arlington. In addition, I have pursued several advanced therapeutic training courses to continue expanding on clinical knowledge.

I have several years of experience as a clinical social worker. I have experience providing mental health therapy, including in inpatient and outpatient settings, case management services, crisis intervention, trauma informed care, and much more. Additionally, I have had the opportunity to work with of client systems as individuals, groups, and families/couples from a multitude of backgrounds ranging from child to older adult populations.
