“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” This quote by the poet Rumi is my approach to therapy in a nutshell. Change is a constant in our lives and we must embrace this challenge.
What happens to you does not define you! You are the author of your story and you decide what the book looks like. Events and experiences can be your entire story, or they could be just a chapter, or a single sentence. I want you to own your strengths and acknowledge your own control. We are made up of a variety of thoughts, emotions, and actions. I will work beside you to explore your parts and integrate them into a unique and powerful whole.
We all experience traumas and difficulties on a daily basis. Most of the time we can cope just fine; however sometimes life overwhelms us and leaves us stuck. That’s where I come in! I hold the space and time sacred for you to share about the negatives and celebrate the positives. We will use curiosity, mindfulness, and grounding techniques to explore new perspectives, identify your strengths, and develop skills to move you forward.
